"Give me Time, 2019" from- https://www.erikjo.com/work/give-me-time
Composition
The focus of the image is mainly down to the clocks that are weighing down the man. The focus point is from a side angle in comparison to the man, effectively facing towards the raising Sun. There are several strong leading lines, being the clocks string that are attached to the man preventing his movement. It causes an effect of the man experiencing layers of pain and being overwhelmed. There's a hard contrast in the image as half is dimmed by storm clouds and the other half glistened by the awakening Sun, furthermore this equates to it being a hard contrast. In this image the rule of thirds is very minor and not drastic/obvious, but the man and the Sun share the same third of the image as do the men in the background holding the clocks. My eyes are drawn to mainly half the image, being the Sun and the Man. The Mans struggle added with the Suns glaring light, creates a sense of passing over/dying as the light is shining on this man in his hardships. The scaling in this image causes the Man to be perceived to be looked down on by the Sun. The depth of field is very shallow as the front of the image (the man being restrained by the clocks) is in focus, leaving everything else blurry.
